Our country could’ve been debt free…
Based on reports, Taylor Swift’s six sold-out shows during the Singapore leg of her Eras Tour ushered in S$300-400 million to the country’s economy.
As a matter of fact the outcome may actually push Singapore’s GDP growth for the first quarter of 2024 by 0.2%.
According to Bloomberg, the contribution was mainly supported by higher tourist spending (hospitality, food, beverage and retail) because of the large number of overseas fans attending the shows in Singapore.
Between Mar 1-9, Taylor Swift played 6 concerts for an approximate of 368,000 fans in Singapore, where about 70% flew in from other countries.
The singer and her team came to an agreement with the Singapore government to only perform in the country throughout the entire SEA region.
