A homeless person was found deceased after falling into a drain on Jalan Sultanah here yesterday evening.
The Chief of Batu Pahat District Police, Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah, stated that the discovery of the unidentified male body was reported at around 5 p.m. before a team was dispatched for investigation.
He mentioned that the body was successfully retrieved with the assistance of the Batu Pahat Fire and Rescue Department and the Batu Pahat Public Works Department.
"Examination of the body revealed no signs of crime-related injuries; it is believed that the deceased fell into the drain and drowned due to the water flow.
"Based on public information, the victim was a homeless person who was often seen in that area," he said in a statement today.
According to Ismail, further investigations are being conducted to ascertain the victim's identity, and the case has been classified as a sudden death.
"The police request the public or anyone with information regarding the deceased individual to come forward and provide information to assist the police investigation. Information can also be directed to the Batu Pahat District Control Center at 07-4363300," he said.
