Straight-A Student From A Single-Parent Family Denied Admission To University Malaya, Seeks Letter Of Support From Politicians

Gaining admission to public universities has consistently been a recurring issue for students, particularly for those who have excelled academically. They often find themselves facing the frustrating scenario of not being accepted into their desired university or not being offered the course they aspire to study. What adds to the frustration is seeing peers securing spots that these high-achieving students believe they deserve too.

Recently, Thasvenraj Marthandan, a top student, shared his story on Twitter. He proudly displayed his SPM certificate with straight As in all subjects, and he also achieved a perfect score of 100% during his matriculation.

Thasven, who comes from a single-parent family, was overjoyed to share his impressive results. However, his excitement turned to devastation when he was not accepted into any of the universities he had hoped to attend.

In a plea for help, Thasven expressed his wish for any politician who could provide him with a support letter to facilitate his admission to the medical program at University Malaya (UM). Since posting his tweet, his story has garnered significant attention, including from Ampang Member of Parliament Rodziah Ismail.

Studying at UM had always been Thasven's dream since the age of 13. However, due to his rejection, he is willing to study at any other public university as long as he can pursue his dream of studying in the medical field. His passion has always been in the medical field because he wants to make a difference by helping people. Thasven's strong affinity for science, especially biology, drives his aspirations.

Thasven's post has garnered sympathy from netizens, along with valuable advice. Despite reaching out to some politicians, Thasven has yet to receive any definitive news. However, he remains hopeful that their assistance will materialize.

Recently elected ADUN Lembah Jaya Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman Alhadad, also known as Altimet, has stepped up to write all the support letters Thasven needs. Thasven has even had a meeting with Altimet, and both are optimistic about a positive outcome.

Ampang MUDA Member of Parliament Rahmat Amran has also offered to take similar action as Altimet. We sincerely hope that Thasven can achieve his dreams and pursue his studies in the medical field.
