A heart-wrenching incident has come to light involving a two-month-old baby girl who reportedly suffered a fractured left thigh, allegedly due to abuse while under the care of her babysitter. The incident, which occurred at premises in Bandar Dato' Onn, was discovered by the baby's father early last Sunday morning.
According to Kosmo, the father made the alarming discovery around 3 a.m. when he went to change his daughter's diaper. Noticing swelling on her left thigh and observing that the baby seemed unusually less active and had been consuming less milk, he immediately grew concerned.
The baby's family had entrusted her to the babysitter on July 15 and collected her back on July 20. According to a social media post by Fione May, the father took the baby to a clinic for a check-up the same day he noticed the swelling. From there, they were referred to a government hospital for further examination.
When the father contacted the babysitter to inquire about any possible incidents, he was met with denial. The babysitter claimed that nothing unusual had happened while the baby was in her care. Unsatisfied with this response, the father took decisive action and filed a police report at 4:38 p.m. on July 21 at the Dato' Onn Police Station.
Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, has confirmed the incident. He stated that the 36-year-old babysitter has been remanded for six days, from July 23 to July 28, to assist in the investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001, which deals with child abuse and neglect.
