Feeling isolate and anxious during Movement Control Order (MCO)? Here are a few pointers that could help you to go through this.
#1 Change Your Mindset
If you feel that you are stuck, reframe this thought with something positive, such as "It is my chance to slow down and I can focus on myself now". Focus on those long-avoided tasks and spend this period to reorganize them. Doing productive thing every day can put you in a positive attitude and increase your sense of accomplishment.
#2 Follow Your Normal Routine
Try to stay close to your normal routine before MCO. Working remotely is not an easy task as you are so close to your own bed and sofa. It could be tempting to fall into a sluggish and inactive lifestyle, which could result in negative thinking.
Try to wake up and get a shower on time, get out of your sleepwear, and eat meals at regular times. Sticking to your routine can help you to adapt faster when MCO is lifted.
#3 Stop Obsessing About Coronavirus News
Consuming too much media coverage of the outbreak can breed unnecessary anxiety. Choose only reliable websites for a limited amount of time every day so you won't be over-researching the pandemic.
#4 Clean Your Room Regularly
A clean room is a happy room! If you rent your room and have no choice but to stay in your room during MCO, you might spend most of your time in your bed. Your bedsheets and blankets get dirty very quickly, so make a habit to wash them weekly!
Fresh bedsheets and pillowcases make you feel happy and keep you in a good mood.
#5 Set Up Boundaries
If you are working from home, it is important to set boundaries. Do not eat in bed or work on the sofa. Your bed should only be for sleeping. If you start to loose these boundaries, it will muddle your routine and make you inactive.
#6 Record down your thoughts
Jot down your thoughts and express your feelings in your diary can help you feel much better. You can reflect on these thoughts later. Starting a new ritual during this time will help you look forward to each new day.
If your anxiety becomes unmanageable, remember to ask for help! We can go through this together :)
