Unicode dropped its new emoji drafts for 2021 and we can’t help but obsess over them. Seeing as how much we use it, emojis have become like or third or fourth language and hearing that these could possibly be added in September has me so excited!
Thankfully for those who aren’t fluent in emoji, emojipedia has given some of the emojis definition and for the ones that have no definition, I decided to be kind and tell you how I personally would use them.
There are quite a lot of new emojis but here are my favourites that will definitely be overused:
1. Melting Face
Emojipedia Definition:
Can be used literally to talk about extreme heat. Can also be used metaphorically to talk about embarrassment, shame, or a slowly sinking sense of dread.
2. Face with Open Eyes and Hand Over Mouth
Emojipedia Definition:
An emoji with open (non-smiling) eyes and a hand over the mouth conveying a gasp, shock or surprise.
3. Face with Peeking Eye
Emojipedia did not give this emoji a definition, but I think it can be used for something scary, shocking or cringy that you don’t really want look but kinda want to also.
4. Saluting Face
Emojipedia Definition:
A face with a hand performing a salute. Generally used as a sign of respect.
5. Dotted Line Face
Emojipedia Definition:
An established comic book troupe, dotted lines around a character can represent someone that is invisible or hidden. It can also represent smallness, submissiveness, isolation, and depression.
6. Low Battery
Emojipedia Definition:
A battery shown in red with a minimal amount of battery remaining. Indicates a device about to run out of power that needs to be plugged in.
7. Face Holding Back Tears
Once again Emojipedia left the definition for this emoji up to us, so I personally would use it when someone is being just so sweet or if I’m like so proud of someone or if something heart-warming happened.
8. Index Pointing at the Viewer
No definition for this as well, but I would use it if I’m trying to point a finger at the person who is texting me obviously !
9. Heart Hands
This is one of my absolute favourites and I will definitely use it as soon as it comes out! I have so much love to give to so many people hahaha.
10. Hand with Index Finger and Thumb Crossed
The perfect K-Pop fan emoji!
Emojipedia Definition:
A finger heart gesture where the index finger and thumb cross, creating the appearance of a very small heart shape. Popularly used by Korean K-pop stars and fans.
The same gesture may indicate a request to be paid money, depending on the context.
