Ever since the lockdown has been lifted, many Malaysians are grateful they can go back to having a normal life again. However, it seems to have come with a cost. Malls are crowded once again, road accidents on the rise, and the most frustrating of all— nature attractions are fouled with rubbish thrown by irresponsible visitors.
One hiker in Terengganu abandoned his hiking plans upon arriving at Air Terjun Janda Mandi when he saw the awful sight of rubbish dumped everywhere, and decided to do one thing not many are capable of doing— clean up.
Muhamad Hafizi Tajudin filmed his voluntary deed on TikTok, hoping to create awareness and to have his video be served as a stern reminder for Malaysians to be more mindful not to litter in public places and in nature.
He, in turn, received an accolade of praises from Malaysians who applauded his selfless act of carrying a huge plastic bag of rubbish collected around the area for 40 minutes before he reached the dumping area. “It was tiring to carry the bag but I felt satisfied clearing the trash near the waterfall area. If the rubbish is left uncollected, it would cause environmental pollution." Hafizi told Malay Mail.
Pollution of any kind towards our nature should never be tolerated and as a responsible individual, we should make it a habit to clean up after visiting nature. after all, we only get one earth. take care of it well.
