Who would've thought that there'll be a Sriracha shortage, right?! Apparently in the US, this issue is legit as ever and even causing distress to Asian-owned eateries such as this one:
For this Los-Angeles based Vietnamese diner, the nationwide Sriracha shortage has prompted a desperate plea to the public, as the hot sauce is a staple in most of the menus.
Taking to Instagram, the diner stated that it's willing to give away discounted and even FREE foods for those who bring in Sriracha supplies. The offer includes free banh mi, summer rolls or even popcorn chicken in exchange for 28oz (unopened) Sriracha bottles; whereas a 50% discount for the 17oz ones.
According to Sriracha maker Huy Fong Foods, the company's production has been hit by bad weather conditions, which resulted in low quality chili peppers.
