30-year-old Badrul Akram Badaruddin was overjoyed upon finding out a portrait of his son was chosen by Apple to be featured on their official Instagram. Badrul is the second Malaysian to have been featured on the tech giant's social media platform in two months, After Muhammad Nuaim Zulkarnain's abstract photo.
According to Badrul, the photo was taken in his car during sunset and at that moment, he would never have imagined his work to have any significance— and what would have otherwise been just another simple capture would turn out to be the very one that got him recognized at an international level.
The Taiping-born father of two has been venturing in photography since 2010. When asked about his craft, he said, “To me, if we're really passionate about something, it's crucial not to ever give up. Sooner or later, it will all be worth it." Indeed, it will be. Badru's photo has garnered over 266K likes at the time of writing.
