LATEST: MAS Passengers Can Now Use Their Electronic Devices During Take-Off & Landing

28-Jun-2023

In an exciting development, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) airlines, including Malaysia Airlines, Firefly, and MASwings, have become the first airlines in Malaysia to offer Gate-to-Gate connectivity to passengers, as approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).

Starting from July 1, 2023, passengers on these airlines will be able to keep their personal and portable electronic devices (PED) switched on from the moment they board the aircraft until they disembark at their destination.

Gone are the days of switching off your mobile phones during take-off and landing! With this new initiative, passengers can use their phones and tablets throughout the entire flight, as long as they are in 'flight mode'.

This means you can now enjoy your downloaded movies, listen to music, or even catch up on work during these critical phases of the journey.

That's not all! Malaysia Airlines has announced a special treat for its Business Suite and Business Class passengers.

From July 1 until December 31, 2023, they will enjoy complimentary WiFi onboard. But the generosity doesn't stop there! Enrich Platinum members, regardless of their class of travel, will also have access to this complimentary WiFi service.

This exciting offer is available on 20 WiFi-equipped aircraft, providing a bandwidth of 512kbps and a data cap of 100MB per sector. MAG is not stopping at just connectivity upgrades. The group is embarking on various product enhancement initiatives to refresh the overall cabin experience.

As part of the cabin refresh plan, Malaysia Airlines is introducing lightweight seats without in-flight entertainment screens on its Boeing 737 aircraft. Instead, each seat will come with a personal device holder and a pair of charging ports (USB-A and USB-C).

The newly refurbished 737 cabin will offer a total of 174 seats, 14 more than the previous configuration, with 12 business class seats and 162 economy class seats.

So get ready to stay connected, enjoy complimentary WiFi, and experience a refreshed cabin environment on your next flight with Malaysia Airlines.
