Residents of Alor Pongsu and two temporary relocation centres (PPS) for flood victims were stunned by the discovery of a python that had feasted on a calf in a palm oil plantation in Kampung Selekoh here yesterday.
The python, measuring over five meters in length and weighing more than 50 kilograms, was found by plantation workers who noticed the snake, believed to be engorged, in a ditch on the plantation.
A spokesperson for the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) stated that at 11:21 AM, they received a report from local residents about the discovery of the animal. "Our members swiftly captured the python using specialized equipment and later brought it back to the office before handing it over to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) Kerian for further action," the spokesperson said in a statement.
The operation was successfully concluded by 2:00 PM.
