Police have arrested a 41-year-old local man suspected of assaulting a foreign worker at a fish platform in Pulau Ketam. The arrest followed the circulation of a 54-second video on Facebook that captured the violent incident, sparking public outrage.

The video, which surfaced online earlier today, shows a man punching and kicking another man at the platform in Bagan Teochew. The assault reportedly occurred on January 11 at 3:30 PM.
Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong revealed that preliminary investigations indicated the victim, a foreign worker employed by the suspect, was attacked for being absent from work for two days. Upon returning to the platform, the victim was allegedly punched, kicked, and threatened by the suspect.
"Acting on information, on January 17 at approximately 5 PM, a team from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Klang Selatan police headquarters arrested a 41-year-old local man in Pulau Ketam," said Cha in a statement.
The suspect, who has no prior criminal record, is currently under investigation. Police are also working to locate the victim to gather further details about the case.
An investigation paper has been opened under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code, covering offences of causing hurt and criminal intimidation. These charges carry a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment and a fine.
Authorities are urging members of the public with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
