It has been a week since the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the number of new COVID-19 cases has been increasing daily. People are still going out to public areas and this has led to the decision to use drones to monitor activity during the MCO.
Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officers will use drones to monitor areas that are busy and crowded such as open-air markets. He mentioned that using drones is more efficient to monitor activity and has also assured the people that there is nothing to worry about if they see drones in the air.
The chief of the Armed Forces, Tan Sri Affendi Buang says that the usage of drones will not cover the whole nation but will mainly target the 12 COVID-19 hotspot areas. Announcements urging the people to comply with the MCO will be broadcasted in Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil using the drones. The drones will record live footage of people gathering outdoors and follow-up actions such as sending authorities to that location will be taken.
Let's stay at home and avoid going outdoors during this MCO period so that the situation will be better and shows signs of improvement.
