For the 90s kid, there is almost no way you have never watched the "classic" cartoons of our time such as "Totally Spies", "Kim Possible" or "The Powerpuff Girls"! In these cartoons, the characters use their extraordinary abilities to complete their missions and save the world again and again, promoting "girl power" before it was popular and becoming the idols of many young girls.
Speaking of cartoons with super-girls, how can we forget "Winx Club"? The animated series was set in a world of fairies, witches, and other mythical creatures as we see our group of teenage fairies juggle high school and saving the universe. If you were a fan of "Winx Club", this ought to be good news: the live adaptation has come to Netflix!
"Fate: The Winx Saga" stars Abigail Cowen (from dark fantasy series "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina") as our lead fairy warrior Bloom. From 22nd January 2021 onwards, you'll be able to be part of the mystical high school and a part of Bloom's life as the "female version of Harry Potter".
The story starts with our lead actress, fire fairy Bloom enrolling into the magical school Alfea and meeting schoolmates Stella (light fairy), Aisha (water fairy), Terra (earth fairy), and Musa (mind fairy).
During her first year in Alfea, Bloom discovers that she is a changeling. With the help of her friends and the awakening of her memories, she realizes that her parents back on earth were not her birth parents, but she was abandoned by fairies.
While searching for her true identity, Bloom and her friends uncover their own abilities and learn how to control the elements. But, it is not all sunshines and rainbows. There is a dark side to Alfea and the magical world and it is coming for Bloom.
The enemy, only known as "the burnt ones", will test Bloom and her friends as it brings danger closer and closer to the borders of Alfea. With a charred appearance and long, tentacle-like limbs, "the burnt ones" look like something out of "Slender Man".
The first season is only 6 episodes long, but it is filled with all sorts of experiences. Head over to Netflix now and watch how a group of teenage fairies deal with love, hatred, friendship, and of course, magic in "Fate: The Winx Saga"!
