At some point or another, many of us have toiled away in the retail or food service industry, gaining a unique understanding of life's challenges. You'd think encountering someone who once stood in your shoes would foster empathy, but sadly, that wasn't the case for this former McDonald's employee.
A local man took to TikTok to share a video of himself and a female companion placing an order at the McDonald's drive-thru. The caption read, "POV: When you're an ex-McD staff." In the video, the woman who was out of frame came across as quite arrogant in her ordering demeanour, dictating specific instructions for her meal preparation.
She insisted on fresh food, hot fries straight from the fryer, precisely salted, and even requested her burgers to be cut a certain way. Her demeanour left a sour taste in netizens' mouths, as she seemed eager to flaunt her knowledge of kitchen operations.
At one point, they even demanded that their porridge be served straight from the pot, displaying a lack of concern for the inconvenience caused to the workers. When questioned about her excessive demands, the woman justified herself by claiming, "When you're sick, you have to be demanding."
Later, it came to light that the man in the video was also a former McDonald's employee. Netizens were appalled by their behaviour, and in addition to that, they rebuked her for patronizing a fast food chain that was supposed to be boycotted.
