Two local police patrol officers are currently finding themselves in hot water as the duo were arrested on Wednesday after allegations came forward of them abusing their power and extorting a part-time burger seller of RM90.
Speaking in a statement, South Klang District Police Chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said that a report had been received regarding the incident by the burger seller, a 22-year-old man, who claimed that the officers extorted money from him as he was delivering a customers order to Bukit Tinggi, Klang. Subsequently, the patrol officers were arrested a day after the report had been made.
Cha went on to state that the incident occurred on August 6 at around 1:10am and that the victims motorcycle had been stopped by a patrol car containing the suspects along the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) before exiting to Bandar Puteri, Klang.
"During the inspection carried out by the suspect, the member found that the road tax of the motorcycle the victim was riding had expired and it is believed that he used this offense to request a sum of money from the victim to avoid his motorcycle being confiscated."
"After discussion, the victim put RM90 in cash into a plastic bag containing a burger and handed it to the suspect." Cha said.
At this current time, the case is currently being investigated under Section 384 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum prison sentence of 10 years or with a fine or whipping or any two of the punishments.
