SHAH ALAM - The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) praised the action of a man using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire of an electrical panel in Bandar Putra Permai, Seri Kembangan, yesterday.
The incident at 3.30 pm and went viral on social media which displayed the courage of a man in his 40s to help before the arrival of firefighters.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Director, Norazam Khamis said, his inspection found that the electric fire involved Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) electrical panels.
He said a team of seven officers and members with machinery from the Serdang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 3.31 pm.
“Upon arrival at the location, the fire was found to be under control and completely extinguished within 10 minutes.
"We were informed that the firefighting was also assisted by a man who acted earlier before the fire brigade arrived," he said when contacted by Kosmo! today.
Norazam explained that his party then handed over to TNB for further action after the operation was completed.
He said his party appreciated the concern of the man who was believed to have taken the fire extinguisher at a nearby premises to put out the fire.
