ICYMI: Dr M Tweets His Congratulations To Anwar Ibrahim
Finance mister, Anwar Ibrahim said that it will take up to 30 years for Malaysia to settle all its debts, provided Putrajaya does not make any new borrowings.
At the end of 2022, Putrajaya's total debt exposure and liabilities stood at RM1.45 trillion, or 80.9% of Malaysias gross domestic product (GDP).
The prime mister said that the government remained committed to ensuring debt services charges were paid on time. Of the RM1.08 trillion in gov debt, RM1.05 trillion included domestic debt while the remaining RM29.5 billion were offshore loans.
This was Anwar's response when asked to reveal when Putrajaya's debts would be settled.
