It was a good day for the Johor police force as they recently took down a drug processing and distribution syndicate, arresting three individuals and seizing drugs estimating at a total of more than RM2 million.
Speaking at a press conference, Johor police chief M. Kumar announced that two of the suspects are men, aged 32 and 51, while the third suspect is a 32-year-old foreign woman, and were subsequently arrested in the city area on April 2nd at 1:30pm at at terrace house.
One of the suspects cooperated with the police and led them to the recovery of ecstasy powder weighing 13.6 kilogrammes which were kept in 345 packets and three containers. Furthermore, 27 ecstacy pills, 1.20 grammes (gm) of ketamine as well as 24.70 gm of syabu was also seized at the terrace house in Seri Alam.
It is believed that the illegal substances were brought in from a nearby state with the intention of processing it into juice, and is sold for more than RM200 per packet in the local market, predominantly in entertainment centres, Kumar said at the Johor police contingent headquarters today.
He also stated that he is under the impression that the syndicate has been active since the earlier part of the year. and has been using a rented house in Seri Alam as a drug processing centre and store.
Kumar also clarified that all three suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and that records stated that two of the individuals have been involved in other drug and criminal cases previously.
While the police force continue to try and identify other members of the syndicate, the trio have been remanded for seven days from April 3rd, to be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952
