After a Malaysian guy noticed that the roadway outside his home was excessively dark he decided to take action himself.
The man posted on Facebook that he had opted to install streetlamps at his own cost to enhance pedestrian safety at night.
"The road is too dark at night, so I decided to pay for the installation of street lamps along the entire street. I hope this will help light the way for pedestrians", he wrote on his Facebook post.
He published photos of people running excavators and installing lamps, which he paid.
It is believed that each street light charged him RM2,000.
On the evening of the same day, he uploaded another Facebook status, stating that the set up was complete.
The previously dimly lighted street has become bright and secure for pedestrians.
His selfless act drew attention and thanks from netizens, who wrote comments like "Good people will always be safe," and "Thanks to you, the road is bright and safe!"
