In a press conference today, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin has revealed that another 123 omicron cases, 88 of whom were Umrah returnees. This makes a total of 245 cases of Omicron reported in Malaysia so far.
According to KJ, 233 of the Omicron cases were imported while 12 were transmitted locally. He also added that 88 of the new cases were pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia after performing the umrah. What's more alarming is that that 17 Omicron cases detected in Malaysia as of January 4th were unvaccinated, 12 of whom were umrah returnees.
The question is: how did local travelers get the green pass to travel abroad if they have not yet been vaccinated? Who approved their departure in the first place? There is a lot to unearth here.
