A Vietnamese woman was found dead, believed to have fallen from the 12th floor of a condominium on Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz, Banda Hilir, here, last night. The Central Melaka District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, said the body of Nguyen Thi Hong Loan, 26, was discovered by the public lying face down in a drain at around 12:15 am.
According to him, the deceased's 28-year-old Vietnamese female roommate informed that before the incident, they had dinner together at around 10:30 pm.
"After dinner, the witness found that her friend was not in the living room, assuming that she had already gone to sleep in her room before suddenly being startled by an ambulance siren below the condominium.
"Further investigation revealed that the deceased had complained of feeling extremely pressured because her father in the village often called her, requesting RM20,000 for an unspecified purpose," he said.
He added that the deceased was also known to frequently experience restlessness and depression due to a lack of money after several months of unemployment while living in Seremban. "Forensic investigation at the scene found no elements of a crime in this incident, and the body was taken to the Melaka Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem examination process.
"At this point, the case is classified as sudden death," he said.
