A Malaysian woman's TikTok post detailing how she and her family suffered severe injuries while dining at a steamboat restaurant in Temerloh, Pahang, has gone viral. In a post made a day ago, TikTok user Fatynanana recounted how she and her family were seated at the restaurant when suddenly, the portable gas stove on their table exploded, causing them to sustain burns on their faces and hands. The victims were immediately rushed to the hospital, where they received a referral letter to consult a plastic surgery specialist.
Although the steamboat restaurant owner took down their contact details, they have yet to reach out to the victims regarding their case. When the victims contacted the restaurant to inquire about the progress of their case, the person in charge casually asked if the incident occurred last year, despite it happening a couple of days back.
Apparently, the restaurant staff were not informed about the incident, and business is operating as usual. The OP also mentioned that the restaurant lacks insurance coverage and claims the business is not doing well. However, contradictory to this claim, the restaurant has undergone several upgrades.
The victim demands justice for herself and her family. The restaurant owner has issued a statement expressing frustration with the individual claiming that they were slow in responding to the victims. The owner explained that their lawyers have advised them not to make any statements regarding the incident while it is still under investigation.
The owner denied allegations of only offering RM1,000 in compensation to the six victims, stating that they are covering all requested compensation as discussed with the victims. The owner emphasized that they take responsibility for the incident and have personally met with the victims. Additionally, a police report has been filed, and investigations by the fire department are ongoing.
Previously, the issue gained attention after a man named Asri Yusof claimed that the premises' owner only offered RM1,000 in compensation despite the seriousness of the injuries sustained by the victims.
The owner clarified that they do not know Asri Yusof and have never met him and that he is not directly involved in the discussions with the victims. The owner urged those with concerns or dissatisfaction to approach them directly, emphasizing that social media posts can lead to defamation. The fire department informed them that the incident occurred beyond their control, and they are leaving it to the authorities to investigate further.
