A man paid a huge price for stealing 3 durians!
According to Sin Chew Daily, a Chinese man stole three durians from a durian orchard and his crime was exposed! After negotiating with the orchard owner, he paid RM10,000 in compensation to settle the matter privately.
The incident happened on July 17, 2024, at a durian orchard in Mukim Teras, Raub, Pahang.
When asked by Sin Chew Daily, the 29-year-old orchard owner pointed out that on the morning of the incident, he received a notification from Indonesian employees in the durian orchard that a stranger had entered the orchard to steal durians, so he and several friends went to catch the thief.
When the owner arrived at the orchard, he saw a man sitting on the ground with three durians that he had not yet put into his basket.
The orchard owner and his friends then caught the thief, tied his hands behind his back, and hung the durian around his neck while filming a video.
"I live in Kampung Sungai Chetang and rent this durian orchard to run my business. I suspected someone was stealing durians before, but I had no evidence."
He pointed out that the 25-year-old thief was from Benta. He and his friends handed the thief over to the nearby Tranum police station, but his father requested a peaceful solution. Under the advice of the police, the other party settled the matter privately with a compensation of RM10,000.
Raub district police chief Mohd Shahril Abdul Rahman confirmed the matter when asked, however, the police did not open an investigation as both parties reached a private settlement.
Hopefully this man will learn his lesson and stop stealing.
