What started as a simple hobby for Noor Shahiran Yusoff has blossomed into a profitable business, proving that vegetable gardening can be a lucrative venture. The 33-year-old housewife from Tanah Merah, Kelantan, now grows over 70 types of vegetables and earns up to RM8,000 per month.
From Hobby to Business
Noor Shahiran's journey began during the Movement Control Order (MCO) when she planted just 30 vegetable seedlings around her home for personal use. With an initial investment of RM50 for soil, fertilizer, and basic gardening tools, she never imagined it would turn into a full-fledged business.
"The plants thrived beyond my expectations, and I saw an opportunity to share my produce with others," she said. Encouraged by her success, she expanded her garden and started selling seedlings to friends and neighbors.
A Wide Range of Seedlings
Realizing the demand for quality seedlings, Noor Shahiran diversified her offerings. Today, she grows and sells over 1,500 varieties of plants, including cherry tomatoes, bird eye chilies, turmeric, ginger, eggplants, and various types of spinach. Her seedlings are priced between RM5 and RM30, making them accessible to many home gardeners.
Nationwide Reach with Quality Assurance
To ensure healthy plant growth, she sources high-quality seeds, uses nutrient-rich soil, and follows careful planting techniques. Her commitment to quality has earned her a loyal customer base, and she now delivers seedlings across Malaysia.
"I take extra care in packaging to make sure the plants arrive safely. Many customers have shared that their seedlings grew well after delivery," she said.
Through her Facebook page 'Scha Atisya' and WhatsApp, Noor Shahiran continues to grow her business, inspiring others to explore home gardening as a sustainable and profitable venture.
