Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and life companion of Queen Elizabeth for more than 70 years making it the longest marriage of any British sovereign; has sadly passed on.
The Royal Family's official Twitter issued an official statement, announcing His Royal Highness's passing.
Official details have yet to be released regarding the Duke's funeral, but it is most likely that he will be given a royal ceremonial funeral rather than a state funeral, as per his final wishes.
