A couple of months ago back in 2021, a well-known preacher Ebit Lew was under public scrutiny for allegedly sending inappropriate sexual messages to several women, of which the screenshots were leaked to the public.
Fast forward to the current development, eleven charges have now been recently made against Ebit Lew, under Section 509 of the Penal Code, for sending obscene pictures and text messages with the intention of humiliating an individual through WhatsApp application.
Utusan Malaysia reports that the Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department, Datuk Seri Abd. Jalil Hassan has confirmed that all the aforementioned charges are for offenses allegedly committed in Tenom, Sabah between March to June last year against a woman.
If convicted, Ebit Lew could be sentenced to five years in prison or a fine, or both. He has since pleaded not guilty to the charges made against him.
On February 3rd, the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) confirmed that the investigation paper on the sexual harassment case involving Ebit, which took months, was almost complete.
