A Kelantanese bird seller's latest colourful attraction has ruffled some feathers among netizens over his apparent animal cruelty.
Dubbed 'rainbow pigeons' by Ismail Che Daud, the winged creatures' 'unique' appearance was attained by spray painting them with a hazardous aerosol paint- the Samurai 2K Aerosol- meant for coating vehicles!
To make matters worse, Ismail defended the shocking act as a way to 'revive' his sales. He claimed to have sold around 10 pigeons a day, earning him a whopping RM1,000 a month.
The trader's indifference towards the issue has since become the subject of scrutiny by netizens, who took to social media to condemn the wrongful act.
According to a tweet by veterinarian Salehatul Khuzaimah Mohamad Ali, she pointed out the potential health risks for the birds, given the paint's intended purpose. She even implored the Department of Veterinary Services to probe Ismail for his cruelty. Other users even chimed in on the conversation, sharing their fair share of disgust.
Even the paint brand used by Ismail has since issued a statement against such act. In a Facebook post, the Samurai Paint, Malaysia strongly disapproved the misuse of the products on animals.
