JUST IN: The Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) program between Singapore and Penang is expected to commence on March 16, in mid-March, announced Minister of Transport Datuk Dr. Seri Wee Ka Siong.
"This VTL initiative will allow fully vaccinated travelers from between Penang and Singapore and vice-versa with participating airlines under the VTL without being required to quarantine upon arrival," he said in a statement today.
Dr. Wee also added that the latest Penang-Singapore VTL will operate with four flights on a daily basis equally shared between participating airlines both in Malaysia and Singapore, and the sale of VTL air tickets will also begin as soon as possible.
According to the State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman, Yeoh Soon Hin, all preparations for the implementation of the program, including preparations at the Penang International Airport (LTAPP) have been carried out conscientiously.
"Currently, in principle, we understand that the VTL between Singapore and Penang will be conducted in mid-March and the approval has been obtained," he added. "All preparations have been made for the implementation of the air VTL between the state and Singapore," he said when met at Escape Penang, here today.
