The Perak Health Department has reprimanded its medical officer who failed to communicate professionally and perform a good clinical examination of patients.
This follows a video posted on TikTok by a mother, Fatin Nur Syafiqah (@FatinHusni92) who claimed that she received bad treatment from the medical officer after taking her sick children to seek treatment at the health clinic here.
The upset mother claimed that the medical officer on duty was accused of being unprofessional and did not do any examination on her two children who had high fever for three days.
Perak Health Department director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim said the department had carried out an investigation and confirmed that one of the children had fever, cough and flu.
Dr Sirajuddin in a statement tonight said that the children received treatment at the Menglembu Health Clinic on Dec 6.
"The investigation found that the quality of treatment that had been delivered and the level of communication by the medical officer was less than satisfactory.
"The medical officer has been reprimanded for communicating with professionals and performing a good clinical examination of all patients who attend the health clinic," he said.
To ensure a good level of service and prevent the same incident from happening again, he said the department has ordered the Menglembu Health Clinic's Family Physician to conduct clinical audits periodically to ensure that the treatment given to each patient is of high quality and complies with the guidelines of the Health Ministry.
Dr Sirajuddin added that the same reminder was also given to all health facilities in the state.
