While out on patrol yesterday afternoon, a JPJ officer suffered a severe accident, leaving him with multiple injuries and having to be transported immediately to the hospital for further medical attention.
As reported by Harian Metro, a lorry had collided into a vehicle of a the Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ), leaving one member injured along the East Coast Highway (LPT) at Kilometer 194.1, westbound near Rehat dan Rawat (RnR) at 5pm yesterday, August 2nd 2024.
In a statement, Kuantan District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, stated that based on reports, the victim was a 38-year-old JPJ enforcement assistant and that the accident involved a JPJ Ford Ranger four -wheel drive and a Hino-Rigid lorry that was driven by a 57-year-old man.
"Preliminary investigation found that the victim was carrying out a Special Trade Op assignment in the left lane with the closure of the left lane for a detour into RnR Gambang."
"Suddenly a lorry from the direction of Kuantan heading towards Kuala Lumpur lost control and hit a four-wheel drive owned by JPJ which was in the left lane and crashed into the victim." Mohd Zahari said.

He went on to state that due to the severeness of the accident, the victim had suffered multiple injuries to his hand, neck and head and was subsequently taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for further treatment.
"As a result of the accident, the victim was taken to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) here in Kuantan for treatment."
"The enforcement assistant suffered injuries to his left hand, neck and head," he said.
Mohd Zahari also mentioned that while the investigation is currently ongoing, the initial reports found that the lorry driver has currently seven outstanding summons yet to be settled.
"The case is investigated according to Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987," he confirmed.
