The female doctor was on the verge of being ready for maternity leave. Unfortunately, she infected with COVID-19 and she died of COVID-19 on May 15. Besides, the fetus also failed to survive. The local people complained about the "murder" of the hospital.
28-year-old pregnant doctor, Wafa Boudissa worked in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Ras El Oued hospital in eastern Algeria. She was often tired after 8 months of pregnancy. Budisa had applied for maternity leave many times because of the inconvenience of transportation after the closure of the city. However, her application was rejected by the hospital.

This incident caused the public to express their solidarity on Twitter and they thought that everyone involved in the incident should be imprisoned as it is obviously a murder case for them.
Boudissa's colleagues also signed a petition calling for improved working conditions for medical staff.
A presidential decree released at the start of the COVID-19 had asserted that pregnant women and those raising children were among individuals entitled to take exceptional leave from work.
After the incident broke out, Health Minister Abderrahman Benbouzid has fired the director of the Ras El Oued hospital and ordered an investigation into the cause of death of Boudissa. According to the source, anyone directly associated with Boudissa’s death may face trial for negligent homicide.
