Few more days and 2020 will become history. It has been a long and tough year for everyone of us, and it certainly is, a year with full of unforgettable memories and incidents. Sad news is awfully lot this 2020. But in the midst of hardness, we find true happiness and greatness.
So let's take a quick look at what has happened in this remarkable chapter - 2020 :-
Australian Bushfires
One of the most devastating wildfire season Australia has ever faced. Continued from December 2019, the fires burned 47 million acres of land, killed at least 34 people and countless of wild life animals.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle quit royal family
On Jan 8, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back as 'senior' members of the royal family.
The COVID-19 Pandemic
On Jan 30, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared coronavirus a global health emergency. According to report, the virus can be traced back to November, in China. It has now infected over 80 millions people world wide and has caused almost 2 millions death.
Kobe Bryant's Death
The legendary basketball player - Kobe Bryant, and his daughter, Gianna, was killed in a helicopter crashed, along with 7 other passengers, in Calabasas, Calif, on Jan 26.
The big winner of 2020 Oscars - “Parasite”
On Feb 9, the South Korean movie "Parasite" has won 4 awards, including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best International Feature Film and Best Picture. "Parasite" is the first non-English-language movie that has won Best Picture at Oscars.
2020 Malaysian Constitutional Crisis
Other than Covid-19, all the Malaysian has their eyes focused on the Malaysian Constitutional Crisis in February. The crisis then ended (or paused?) after the Yand di-Pertuan Agong appointed Muhyiddin Yassin as the 8th prime minister.
Malaysia's First Lockdown
March 18 marks the start of Malaysia's Movement Control Order (MCO) to contain the Covid-19 virus. The control movement was then extended to May 12, before it goes into Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) till Jun 9, and then Recovery Movement Control Order till Dec 31.
Kim Jong Un Death Rumours
On April 15, the North Korean supreme leader missed the events commemorating his grandfather Kim Il-sung. Speculation begun saying that Kim Jong Un is seriously ill or dead. Although Kim Jong Un did reappeared 20 days later at a ribbon-cutting ceremony, but a South Korean official claimed that all of the appearance were faked and the leader is now in coma.
The Najib Razak Trial
The Ex Malaysia Prime Minister founded guilty of all 7 charges on the 1MDB scandal. He was sentenced to 12 years jail and RM210 million.
Beirut Explosion
Another heart breaking news in Aug 4, where a massive explosion at a Beirut port killed at least 190 peoples and injured thousands of others. It was caused by the accidental detonation of 2,750 tons of ammounium nitrate.
Lim Guan Eng Trial
The former Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was plead guilty for obtaining RM3.3 million bribes in connection with the Penang undersea tunnel project.
