The students of Malaysia are angry, and rightfully so.
As of yesterday, SPM students are officially back in school. It didn't come without protest, though. The students in question took to Twitter to express their dismay through the hashtag #SuaraPelajar.
Clearly, many are wrapped in fear and anxiety as the reopening of schools puts them at high risk of contracting covid. To make matters worse, dozens of students in Sabah have tested positive right after returning, and the numbers are expected to increase.
Adults have also joined in on the discussion, including YB Syed Saddiq himself.
The concern here is not to postpone SPM, but rather to urge the government in developing thorough exam guidelines or special consideration that are aligned with the new normal, as what is currently being implemented in England.
Should the students risk their lives just to earn a certificate? Or, are we about to witness #ClusterPelajar in the following week?
