Could this be nothing but a grand distraction puppeted by the government to distract us away from much bigger things at hand?
That notion isn't entirely too unprecedented, considering that quite a big number of Malaysians seem to share that sentiment. A majority of Malaysians feel that the country would be better off focusing on more dire matters say... the pandemic, perhaps?
That's not the only concern that M'sians have raised. In the comment section of this post made by SAYS concerning the LGBT issues, hundreds of disgruntled voices were heard pledging the government to shift their attention and resources elsewhere.
As what has been publicly known, the deputy minister of the prime minister's department Ahmad Marzuuk Shary has imposed harsher laws against LGBT offences; an announcement that was met with quite the backlash from members of the public.
Fearlessly stepping into the light with their unfiltered, fiery stances, Malaysians no longer recoil at the sight of absurdity. A collective embodiment of the hashtag #SiBodohKauDengarSini, these comments are a direct representation of the vox populi which historically speaking, could make or break a country.
In the bigger scheme of things, it does seem to suggest that Malaysians are growing to be more accepting of the LGBTQ community despite the country's rigid stance on the matter.
Could there be a promising future for the LGBT community in our country?
