A 20-year-old woman, identified as Fatin Ieram Bariah Muhamad Sobri, was found deceased in a Perodua Myvi parked at a Shell petrol station in Kota Bharu. She was discovered alongside an unconscious man in his twenties, identified as Wan Muhamad Haris Aiman Mohamad, inside the car around 10:17 pm on November 26.
Both Fatin and Wan Muhamad were students, with Fatin studying for a Diploma in Business Studies, and Wan Muhamad being a friend from school who was also studying at the polytechnic.
The petrol station workers noticed the car had been parked for hours, prompting their discovery. Fatin's mother was informed about the incident and clarified that the two friends were on their way to Wan Muhamad's sister's shop in town.
Kota Bharu District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Rosdi Daud, confirmed that Fatin's body would be sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospitals Forensic Unit for further examination.
Forensic reports revealed that the cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. Presently, investigations indicate no criminal involvement, and the case is classified as a sudden death.
Authorities are urging the public to refrain from speculations and to respect the privacy of the family.
