A lady from Klang took to Facebook to express her dissatisfaction over the two-time increase in the Indah Water bill since the year 2023. She explained that she last paid RM60 in the middle of 2023, and about 6 months later in 2024, she received another bill from Indah Water, this time with the price increased from RM60 to RM72.
A netizen responded to her post by pointing out that in early 2023, the Indah Water bill was only RM48!
The post quickly went viral, attracting numerous comments with varying views.
Some commenters think that Indah Water did not provide any services and that people are paying for nothing. However, few disagreed and claimed that even though they couldn't see the Indah Water team in action, the team is still working on managing the waste from each household.
Others compared it to the water bill, which costs only RM8 per month, while Indah Water charges RM12.
Another netizen pointed out that such an increment should be brought to the parliament to prevent overpricing.
On the other hand, some netizens defended the company and sarcastically suggested to the poster as well as those who failed to see the importance of the the bill should move to other places where they dig their water reservoir or use only public toilets to save on paying for Indah Water.
One netizen explained that the bill was not increased but is simply paying in advance for a longer period. The bill from early 2023 was for 4 months, while mid-2023 was for 5 months, and the 2024 bill was for 6 months. Therefore, the price actually stayed the same.
What do you think of this? Is Indah Water charging too much, or is this reasonable, and should we do our part in paying the bills? Comment below.
