In an unprecedented show of support and recognition for Malaysian athletes, exceptional incentives have been announced for those who achieve historic success at the upcoming Paris Olympics. Tan Sri Dr. Lim Wee Chai, founder and executive chairman of Top Glove and owner of the Top Residency development, has pledged a luxury condominium unit at Top Residency, Setia Alam, worth RM1 million to the first Malaysian athlete who secures an Olympic gold medal. This generous offer is open to all 26 national athletes competing in Paris.
In addition to this, three prominent badminton players Aaron Chia, Soh Wooi Yik, and Chen Tang Jiestand gain an additional RM1 million in cash. This significant cash incentive is sponsored by Sengheng executive chairman Lim Kim Heng, demonstrating his unwavering support for Malaysia's badminton talents.
These incredible rewards are in addition to the RM1 million payout from the government's National Sports Incentive Scheme, which is awarded to all gold medal winners.
The sponsorship presentation event, held in Bukit Jalil, was officiated by Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh. In her address, she emphasized the significance of these incentives in acknowledging and appreciating the tireless efforts of national athletes.
"The first gold, if achieved in Paris, will be a monumental achievement for our nation," Yeoh remarked. She underscored how these incentives not only provide financial security but also serve as a powerful motivation for athletes striving for excellence on the global stage.
These announcements come as a tremendous boost for Malaysia's Olympic contingent, adding to the excitement and anticipation of the Paris Games. With such high stakes, the nation's athletes are more determined than ever to bring home the country's first-ever Olympic gold medal, a feat that will be etched in the annals of Malaysian sports history.
