Based on reports, a 17 year old, part time worker at a construction site died from building materials falling on top of him.
The boy from Kuala Terengganu passed on Wednesday at the working site of a shopping mall at 4.30pm while transporting building materials in a modified trolley to a shop lot under renovation.
The trolley unfortunately malfunctioned, causing the materials to fall on his head, resulting in some pretty fatal injuries -- he was pronounced dead on the scene, due to head trauma.
The Terengganu State Department of Occupational Safety and Health (JKKP) then announced that a full investigation was underway.
JKKP officers also visited the mall to further investigate and then issued a Prohibition Notice (NOP) to the contractor for failing to ensure safe material handling, leading to the fatal accident.
The department will investigate any breaches of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994.
"JKKP takes all workplace accidents seriously. Employers and workers must assess and mitigate hazards, ensuring effective risk controls to reduce accidents and health risks," stated JKKP.
