So, the number on the back of the Squid Game card shown on the show? It's a real number, and its owner has been receiving over 4000 calls on the daily!
Based on reports by The Korea Times, since the premiere of now Netflix's number 1 show, Squid Game, a man in South Korea has been harassed with endless calls and text messages.
Apparently, the number which was featured on the show, was not made up, and belongs to a man in his 40s, living in the Province of Gyeonggi. Unaware of the show and his number being featured on it, he was only caught up to speed after one of his callers looped him in.
After having the show blow up worldwide, he has received:
1. Calls from those who sounded like children saying they wanted to be in the game
2. Calls at 3am in the morning
3. Messages and pictures
4. Strangers phoning his wife (she has the same number, except for the last digit)
Reports also noted that in order to help him sleep at night, he had to consume sleeping pills, just to get over this stressful period of time. Despite it though, the man is reluctant to change his number, and the production company has been in contact with him, as means to solve the matter.
On top of that, a South Korean politician, has also offered over KRW100 million to buy said number.
"I heard that the owner of the phone number showed on a business card in Squid Game is suffering serious damage from prank calls. I would like to buy the number for 100 million won.", he said on FB.
