Since the government launched the Menu Rahmah initiative, a number of organisations have joined to provide a menu that is favourable to the B40 community budgets.
This would enable those who are less fortunate to buy a well-balanced meal for only RM5.
Major local brands like Mydin Malaysia, Burger King, and even Old Town White Coffee are known to have joined the initiative to support the community.
Yet, as it is called Menu Rahmah for a reason, it is undeniably an effort intended just for eateries. But nonetheless, it didn't stop one specific Malacca homestay owner from providing B40 families with a 99% discount when they book her homestay.
And yes, she's charging guests only RM5 for a night's stay.
The 34-year-old owner of Guesthouse Sarasera in Malacca said she wanted to take part in the initiative even though she didn't have to because she wanted to give back to the community and support individuals who are living within their means.
Also, this would assist the state's tourist industry growth in preparation for the forthcoming Visit Melaka Year 2024 campaign.
Her homestay comes equipped with a swimming pool, a well-designed interior and furniture that most families would appreciate especially when they are in need to wind down from all the hustle and bustle.
Initially, she would charge guests RM650 per night on regular weekdays and RM750 per night on public holidays and weekends but this drastic price drop promotion isn't catered to everyone.
The guests who qualify for the discount must submit their income paperwork first to ensure that the homestay is being reserved by the families in need and to prevent anyone from exploiting the offer.
She also indicated that the offer would last from February to March and that it would depend on availability.
Her primary goal and objectives are to accommodate big families of 10 or 15 who want to go on a trip where they can unwind in the pool and, if they so choose, have a BBQ party.
Further amenities include bicycles, four bedrooms with air conditioners, a well-equipped kitchen, and a living room with WiFi and a TV subscription service in addition to the pool and the barbeque pit.
The homestay is located at 1, 3, Jln Si 39, Taman Saujana Indah, 75450 Melaka and you can contact Ema (019-6003234) or Yaya (012-6943234) if you'd like to book the space out!
