Food delivery workers often face a variety of customer behaviours, some of which can be disheartening, amusing, frightening, or even concerning. Recently, a young delivery rider shared a disturbing encounter on social media involving a customer with a dual identity.
The rider received an order from a customer named Alia, requesting delivery to a budget hotel. However, he was taken aback when the voice on the phone sounded distinctly masculine.
"I felt humiliated by what happened," the rider recounted. "When I arrived at the hotel lobby, I called Alia to inform them that their food had arrived. Alia asked me to bring the food up to room 309. The voice was deep and rough, not what I expected."
Despite his reservations, the rider agreed to go upstairs. When he reached room 309, he found the customer waiting outside the door in a provocative stance, leaning against the doorframe.
What happened next was beyond anything the rider could have anticipated. "As I was looking for change in my wallet, Alia suddenly groped me," he said. "The food cost RM25, and the customer handed me RM100, so I had to return RM75. While I was getting the change, Alia grabbed me."
Shocked and frightened, the rider protested, "Please don't do this, encik, I'm scared." The customer responded, "Don't call me 'encik,' call me Alia." The rider complied out of fear, quickly finished the transaction, and left the scene in a hurry.
