Several Latin American countries have accused the big pharmaceutical company of "high-level bullying" after they demanded a few big requests in exchange for the supply of the life-saving Covid-19 vaccines.
Government officials from Argentina, Brazil, and another Latin American country that refused to be named reported that Pfizer pressured a few crazy demands, among which are: additional indemnity against civil lawsuits, military bases, federal bank reserves— all to protect them from ever paying legal costs.
Pfizer is basically pressuring these third-world governments to be fully responsible for civil lawsuits and compensation costs that their people may claim should they experience any side effects or suffer health complications, even if it is caused by negligence on Pfizer's side.
As a result of these demands, these countries refused to sign a vaccine supply deal with Pfizer, citing that these demands are simply too much.
Vaccine monopoly is a serious crisis and it is outrageous for these pharmaceutical companies to display such greed when the number one goal should be to keep the pandemic under control so we can all go back to normal. What a shame.
