As we all know, our country went from 3-digit to 5-digit COVID-19 cases in a matter of months until the government had to decide to no longer announce the number of total daily cases to avoid mass panic. The culprit of all this is none other than the Omicron variant that has the ability to spread like wildfire.
Just yesterday our country recorded a new highest number of cases at 31,199 and it can be expected to rise higher in the next few days.
These high cases has certainly put everyone on high alert especially after the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed Malaysia as one of the countries on the list of highest-risk destinations for travel.
According to a CNN report, the CDC listed Malaysia in level 4 which is very high risk where more than 500 cases per 100,000 population were registered in the past 28 days.
It is understood that Malaysia is one of the destinations of choice for tourists due to the uniqueness and cultural diversity available in the country.
In addition, the CDC also listed three other countries, namely Bhutan, Brunei and Iran in the level 4 category. Britain emerged as the longest-running country on the CDC list after being on the list since July 2021.
