Remember the days when we would walk around our houses with paper lanterns, careful not to let the candle inside die off? Although we're not allowed to gather and hold our lanterns together this year, the Mooncake Festival is still worth celebrating.
Apart from just mooncakes, why not get your hands on a unique lantern to add some festivities to your life! These DIY retro lanterns are not only beautiful, but practical!
It's pretty simple. You buy a lantern package and will be given a stick, a wooden frame, the paper body, string, tassels, glue, and LED lights, everything you will need to put the lantern together!
The lantern designs range from a moon, to a fan, to a lotus, to different types of traditional lanterns, and my personal favorite - a rabbit. Most of them come with a flowery pattern, but if you're looking to unleash your inner artist, there are also main "plain" designs that allow you to draw on them. Don't worry, even the paint is included in the package!
Prices are pretty affordable as well. Each lantern will only set you back between RM20 - RM40. Remember when we mentioned that it was practical? Since it's using battery powered LED lights instead of candles, you can keep it as a nightlight or a bedside lamp after the mooncake festival. This makes it even more worth it!
So, if you're looking for some handcrafts or a pretty thing to help you stand out on Instagram during the mooncake festival, then look no further!
