You read the headline right! From 1 September onwards, you can march up to your boss and request for flexible working arrangements (FWA).
This is all thanks to the Employment Act 1955 amendment coming to force. Here's what you'll need to know:
1. Put the application in writing.
2. Ask for changes in working hours, working days, or the place of work.
3. Your boss has to reply to the application within 60 days, in writing.
4. In case of rejection, your boss will need to state the reasons clearly.
And here's a bonus from the amendment of the act, the maximum number of working hours per week has been reduced from 48 hours to 45 hours.
Although we're all wishing for a 4-day working week, for now, we'll settle for a FWA!
