In a recent TikTok video shared by user @kaksuemeow, a woman named Nooraliya showcased her creatively adorned car, decked out with an array of decorative lights. However, this attention-grabbing feat hasn't gone unnoticed by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), who have warned that such actions could lead to fines of up to RM200.
Nooraliya's video displays her vehicle adorned with numerous lights, creating a dazzling spectacle on the streets. Yet, according to JPJ spokesperson Mohamad Shamsi, the act of embellishing cars with decorative lights is considered illegal and could result in fines.

"Regardless, the discretion lies with the enforcement officers. For such violations, fines typically range from RM100 to RM200," stated Shamsi in an interview.
Despite encountering police officers numerous times while driving in Bukit Bintang, Nooraliya claims she hasn't been fined. "On the contrary, I even received thumbs-ups from the police," she said.
However, she has since removed the decorative lights from her car, though she hints at the possibility of re-embellishing it. "Last time, it took me about six hours to install all the lights on my car," she revealed.
The trend of adorning cars with decorative lights may add flair and personality, but motorists should be aware of the legal ramifications. While some may escape fines, others may not be as fortunate, as enforcement actions remain at the discretion of authorities.
