In a harrowing incident captured on video, Facebook user JC Jess shared her heart-stopping experience as the brakes of her Chery Omoda 5 failed while driving, barely two months after purchasing the vehicle. Expressing deep frustration and fear, Jess recounted multiple visits to the service centre for the same brake issue, only to find herself in a life-threatening situation again on the highway.
"I just came out from this service centre because of the brake issue and just now when I [reached] this highway, my brake suddenly did not work!" Jess lamented in her post.
The video depicts Jess's emotional reaction as she grapples with the terrifying realization that her brakes had ceased functioning, putting her life and the lives of others at risk.
In her video, she showed that the mileage of her car was only 3274km and she has visited the service centre 6-7 times for the exact same issue. And to make things worse, she claims that the people working in the service centre have a very bad attitude.
"This is so dangerous. I don't know why they [can't] just solve this issue! How many times [do I need] to go to your service centre?" says Jess in a trembling voice.
In order to prove her statement, she then changed her gear to D and as her car started to move she stepped on the brake, however, the speed was seen to be increasing and her car is still moving.
As netizens started to comment on the video, Jess explained that while her car was being serviced at the service centre, she was given a temporary replacement car to drive which she encountered similar brake issues as well, where the brake pedal sunk.
Another netizen claimed that there were two other Chery Omoda 5 cars in Johor Bahru that were sent to her father's workshop for repair.
In response to the viral video, Chery Malaysia has issued an official statement to address the issue and will be in contact with the owner to further resolve this matter. This is a developing story. Follow us for updates.
