Recently, veteran actress Maya Karin faced backlash for sharing photos of herself walking her boyfriend's dogs at a park in the US. She was there for a work trip with her producer and filmmaker boyfriend, James Gutierrez, captioning the images "Day out in Los Angeles with @jamesg_champ and his babies." 

While the pictures seemed harmless, the Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam actress probably didn't expect to receive online backlash for posting them, despite not having physical contact with the dogs in the photos. 

Many netizens criticized her for casually sharing such images online, accusing her of adopting a "Western lifestyle" and reminding her that touching dogs is considered haram (forbidden). 

However, some of her fans came to her defence, arguing that she is an adult who knows what she's doing, and even if she did touch the dogs, she could easily cleanse herself afterwards.

 Others advised netizens not to overreact to what others post online, as it's their life. As of now, Maya has not commented on the matter.
