Suzanne Collins has spilled the tea, and we couldn’t be more sat!
Based on her official announcement, a new Hunger Games book is underway, and not long after that, Lionsgate, announced that a movie will most certainly follow.
Sunrise on the Reaping will be the fifth volume of the blockbuster dystopian series, and is set for publishing on March 18, 2025.
The new book will begin with the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, set 24 years before the original Hunger Games novel, and 40 years after Collin’s latest The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The movie adaptation of the new novel has been set to release on November 20, 2026. Francis Lawrence, who has been the director for all the Hunger Games movies, will return once more as director.
In 2015, Collins revealed that a chapter was closed and it was time to move on. But then fast forward 4 years later, she stunned the world once again, when she announced what she was working on for 2020 (The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes).
For the new book, reports state that she is citing Scottish Enlightment philosopher David Hume.
“Suzanne Collins is a master storyteller and our creative north star. We couldn’t be more fortunate than to be guided and trusted by a collaborator whose talent and imagination are so brilliant”, said Lionsgate chair.
This fall, a Hunger Games stage production is also scheduled to debut in London.
